What if I'm already a member of SOCRCC?

If you're unfamiliar with why the Lake Forest Chamber recently become an independent chamber, click here for a brief history.

As we've put together the New Lake Forest Chamber over the past few months, a frequent question we've heard is: "I'm already a member of the South Orange County Regional Chambers of Commerce (SOCRCC). What happens to my membership?"

This situation presents multiple issues. On one hand, most current SOCRCC members were not aware that the SOCRCC's affiliate city chambers were being dissolved (and subsequently reborn as independent chambers); existing SOCRCC members may feel entitled to membership in their new local chamber. On the other hand, the Lake Forest Chamber, as well as all of the other new independent chambers, did not receive any funds from the SOCRCC; each new chamber is entirely dependent on new membership dollars in order to provide services to its members.

We've thought long and hard about this situation, and unfortunately there is no one solution that will completely satisfy everyone. However, we feel that we have struck a compromise that most can live with. 

We have created a special membership level called Credited SOCRCC Membership. The price of this membership is free and it is available to anyone who joined the SOCRCC between 1/1/2009 and 1/1/2010.

Benefits of this membership include:
  • Online business posting
  • Ability to post a M2M Discount
  • Membership pricing for events/services
This membership level does not include the following:
  • Recognition as a "Charter Member"
  • Lake Forest Chamber Name Badge
  • Lake Forest Chamber-sponsored Ribbon Cutting
  • Any of the other value-added benefits
To sign up as a Credited SOCRCC Member, simply go to the Online Application Form and select the appropriate choice. The Credited SOCRCC Membership level is available until September 1, 2010. After which, you will be asked to upgrade to one of the paid membership tiers, or your membership will be frozen.

Of course, after seeing all of the benefits the New Lake Forest Chamber offers, we're sure you'll want to sign up as a Charter Member as soon as possible!
